SERTOMA. A curious word until three very important words come together in unison: SERvice TO MAnkind. Sertoma's primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders. Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs, as identified by the individual clubs.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., Sertoma is a civic organization dedicated to "SERvice TO MAnkind", with 20,000-plus members in more than 600 clubs across Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States. Every year Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects. Through these projects, as well as grants and scholarships, Sertoma clubs return those funds to their respective communities – and they have lots of fun doing it while building life-long friendships.

Sertoma International was organized in 1912 and is believed to be the second oldest service club in the country.  Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Sertoma is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit international organization dedicated to “SERvice TO MAnkind”, with 20,000-plus members in more than 650 clubs. Sertoma sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth, and to benefit a variety of other local communities needs as identified by the individual clubs. The Bowdon Sertoma was chartered in 1992. Our members contribute their time and
energy to club projects. The club meets every second Thursday from 6:00 –7:30 p.m. The club meets at The Meeting Place (Bowdon Historical Society) except for dates when there
is a concert at Copeland Hall. On those occasions, the club meets in the lobby of
Copeland Hall at 6:00PM. The membership is presented stimulating speakers, enjoyable
social programs and meaningful projects that have a visible impact on our community.

One of the most enjoyable and important projects of the Bowdon Club is the annual Concert Series held at Copeland Hall. The series raises money for the various charitable projects chosen by the club.
Please see the Concert Series Section for more information.
